My newest place to eat!

So picture it… January 1st, 2012.  What a better way to bring in the New Year than to have a delicious brunch?.  We sat at home wondering what was open, and decided to go to some local haunts over on Main St.  After getting ready and looking forward to a great meal, we arrived to find that both places were closed.  Good for them!  I hope all of the staff enjoyed the day without people like us interrupting  their hangovers from a well-deserved night of celebration.

Very hungry and in need of some beer, we noticed that The Wallflower was open.  I had never eaten there, but had heard great things from my partner.  So we went across the street and Patrick told me to look at the menu.  I said that I trusted him and that I was too hungry to care.
I have walked by the façade a couple of times but have always been alone.  I hate eating alone, and reserve that to other less dignified establishments.

We entered, and as I scanned the crowd, found that it was what you would expect on Main St.  It was a fairly diverse group of people enjoying a mid-day out.  A very pleasant waitress greeted us and showed us to our table.  She handed us our menus and asked if we would care for something to drink.  We ordered a beer, and she suggested a pitcher as it was more affordable… So much for New Year’s resolutions for cutting back on the drinking LOL.

Honestly I was taken aback by the menu.  It is rare that there are so many choices for people with dietary restrictions.  I have always been very lucky, knock on wood, to not have to deal with that myself.  I do eat meat but more often than not, I choose vegetarian.

Anyway, highly recommended spot to try.

Hidden Treasures in Vancouver

So for any of you that know me, I love to eat.  But unfortunately, from working and living around the food industry, I don’t love cooking.  I enjoy making people happy, but being in the kitchen is not my favorite past time.  As a result I tend to eat out a lot.  I enjoy a great atmosphere, good conversations, and most of all…. delicious food.

Which brings me to today’s post…  I know the owner of this underground restaurant personally, but that has nothing to do with my opinion of the special experience you will have dining here.  She is first of all the most gracious of a hostess.  You are warmly greeted and pampered from start to finish.  The space is absolutely beautiful, and you will have the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy some really delectable foods.

It is most refreshing in this day and age, as well as in this city, to find a little place so special.
